If you don't have it, just ignore this message - but the woohoo anywhere hack can also result in no free will. The last time I tried playing an asylum, my sims did the same thing that yours did. I did some snooping around - that hack has caused a lot of problems for a bunch of people.
And if you don't have it - I agree with the other comments, try moving them out and back in?
