UGH, I think my Group Hug Group Home game is already borked! Either that or the lot itself is. Here's what happened:

Everything was going along swimmingly until Justice gave birth to her baby. After that, everyone acted as if they had no free will. They would stand around and yell about how they were tired/stinky/hungry, etc., but they didn't DO anything about it. They were perfectly able to perform functions if I asked them to, but left to their own devices they did nothing. Free Will was in the ON position.

So I got out the lot debugger (I don't think I've ever successfully used it to debug anything, but maybe I don't really understand how it works) and forced errors on both in-world and off-world. This changed nothing.

I can't help but think that it's the addition of the baby that's buggering things up. It's now a 10 person household, and while I have the hack that lets you have more than 8 sims, I haven't really tested it in-game extensively up until this point. I researched a bit to find out what other people have done about this problem and it seems like they all end up moving the family out and then moving them back in. WAH, I don't wanna do that...all that decorating, down the drain! Plus I'm worried that one of the 10 sims will, like, disappear somehow. Like the baby, for example. Travesty!

One thing I have not yet tried is removing some of my hacks and seeing what happens. I guess that's the next step.

Anyone else had this happen before? How did you fix it?

Try using the stay things shrub and then move them out, you won't have to redecorate or anything. Just download it, place it in your DL folder and place it on the lot. I believe there are some options to click on --- be sure to check. Once you have all of that sorted, get the family out (no one will disappear, I promise. They might not show up in the family picture though, it depends).

Use Inge's Stay Things Shrub http://drealm.info/simlogical/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_MiscHacks.htm (about halfway down the page) to make the furnishings stay and not get sold when they move out. You need to activate it by placing it on the lot then click on it and choose to leave furnishings behind on move out.

Really does sound like you need to try moving them in and out.

Did you look under Fix on the bat box? Forcing errors is not necessarily the only thing that you can do to try to debug a lot. Also, try taking out InTeen if you have it. It seems to be the cause of random lack of free will for a lot of people.

Edited because I can't spell.

This is true. When I used to have inTeen, I always had this problem, then I took it out and it was like my sims went crazy with their free will.

Thanks guys. I can't believe I've never even heard of this magic shrub! I might take out InTeen anyway, because I really don't use it for anything.

If you don't have it, just ignore this message - but the woohoo anywhere hack can also result in no free will. The last time I tried playing an asylum, my sims did the same thing that yours did. I did some snooping around - that hack has caused a lot of problems for a bunch of people.

And if you don't have it - I agree with the other comments, try moving them out and back in?

I used to have it but it did exactly that, so I took it out. Haven't used it in a long time. I do have InTeen, though....

Perhaps that's the problem then? I don't use InTeen, because I was terrified that it was going to bork my game..
